It
was a memorable holiday with wonderful people....P.Hudson...06/2005....Scotland
"Pale
Falirio è molto carino, facile da raggiungere e soprattutto
è vicinissimo ad atene(5 euro di taxi) Il tutto molto
pulito, ordinato e nuovo.

- Thanks, We had a great time and have 750+ photographs to
prove it.
Thank you also for the kindness and understanding you showed
following our very late arrival. I'm sure that many other
owners would have been pretty annoyed and would have shown
it. regards - 12/2005....Eric...Scotland
Christine
- Thank you for an enjoyable stay (and some good winter swimming!)
- the apartment was very well equipped and your mother was
very helpful explaining everything and on hand to help us
find the local market and so on. We
would certainly recommend or stay again when in Athens. George

Within
the sprawling city of Athens it is easy to imagine the
golden age of Greece when Pericles had the Parthenon
built.
The Theatre of Dionysus, where the tragedies of Aeschylus,
Sophocles and Euripides were performed.
The Pynx Hill, where democracy brought all citizens
together to decide their common fate..
Athens is built around the Acropolis
and the pinnacled crag of Mt. Lycabettus, which the
goddess Athena was said to have dropped from the heavens
as a bulwark to defend the city. (Athens currently
has over four million inhabitants).
The suburbs have covered the barren plain in all directions
and the city is packed with lively taverns, cafes
and bustling shops.
Dominating the Athenian landscape,
the Acropolis is unsurpassed in its beauty, architectural
splendor and historic importance.
The entrance to the Acropolis is the Propylea, which
extends 150 feet adjoining the temple of Athena Nike
or Wingless Victory.
The Parthenon is on the highest part of the Acropolis
and was built between 447 and 437 BC. It was here
that modern democracy began its early foothold.
